Steps to import a car in Balearic Islands

Find a premium vehicle on the mainland or in Europe
The Balearic market skews upmarket; since a ferry crossing is already priced in, many importers prefer a car that justifies the extra cost.

Book the ferry to Palma
There's no overland alternative: the ferry crossing from Barcelona or Valencia is mandatory and should be budgeted separately from the car's price.

Get the ITV done depending on the island
Mallorca has the highest volume and usually more availability; on Menorca, Ibiza or Formentera it's worth booking further ahead.

Work out the national CO₂ bracket
The registration tax is the same as on the mainland, with no extra discount for being an island territory.

The rate matches Madrid's, though total cost rises because of the mandatory ferry crossing to the archipelago.
